"The CWMD office was created to have the subject matter expertise to be able to address a multitude of chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear threats and to go and help support those who are the first responders, who are really the canaries in the coal mine, so to speak, and to help support the homeland."The office she oversees is the only one that looks at "state, local, tribal, territorial aspect of response to nuclear threats," she said.For example, the programs that partner with 14 major cities to detect and prepare a response for nuclear events would go away, Callahan said.Officials within the office said budgetary constraints could cause a strain for those cities."They would have to recreate [the CWMD office] and spend resources that they don't presently have," one DHS official said.Callahan told reporters that lawmakers are on board with legislation for the office to continue it is just about how to get it done in time before the office is terminated."It's a complicated congressional environment," she said.Much House business -- including appropriating funds to government agencies -- has come to a grinding halt following the ouster of former Speaker Kevin McCarthy. Jim Jordan for speaker, it appears there will be a third floor vote, although the timing is not yet clear.。    राज्य ब्यूरो, चंडीगढ़। पंजाब एवं हरियाणा हाईकोर्ट ने हाईकोर्ट में प्रशासनिक ड्यूटी पर तैनात न्यायिक अधिकारियों को सुरक्षा न दिए जाने के मामले में स्वत संज्ञान लिया है। मुख्य न्यायाधीश शील नागू और न्यायाधीश संजीव बेरी की खंडपीठ ने कहा कि हम मानते है कि हाईकोर्ट में प्रतिनियुक्ति पर तैनात हरियाणा पंजाब के न्यायिक अधिकारियों की सुरक्षा सुनिश्चित करना केंद्र शासित प्रदेश (यूटी) प्रशासन की जिम्मेदारी है। खंडपीठ ने इस संबंध में यूटी प्रशासन को नोटिस जारी करते हुए दो सप्ताह के भीतर पुलिस महानिदेशक (डीजीपी) के हलफनामे के जरिए जवाब दाखिल करने के निर्देश दिए हैं। हाईकोर्ट ने यह संज्ञान दरअसल उस प्रस्ताव पर लिया, जिसे हाई कोर्ट की बिल्डिंग कमेटी ने पारित किया था। इस प्रस्ताव में स्पष्ट किया गया था कि जिला न्यायपालिका के कई अधिकारी जो हाई कोर्ट में प्रतिनियुक्ति पर प्रशासनिक कार्य देख रहे हैं, उन्हें अपेक्षित सुरक्षा उपलब्ध नहीं करवाई जा रही है।,कोर्ट ने कहा कि न्यायिक अधिकारियों की सुरक्षा न केवल उनकी व्यक्तिगत सुरक्षा का प्रश्न है, बल्कि न्यायिक प्रक्रिया और संस्थान की गरिमा से भी जुड़ा हुआ मामला है। इसीलिए प्रशासन को इस मुद्दे पर गंभीरता से कदम उठाने होंगे।。
